Nino's Story — From 1,800 GEL/Month in Tbilisi to $1,400/Month in Hanoi

Nino was teaching English at a private school in Tbilisi for 1,800 GEL a month. She had a degree in English philology and five years of experience. The salary covered rent and food — and that was it.

She'd considered Turkey and the Gulf states. Turkey paid the same as Georgia. The Gulf required native speakers.

Eight weeks after joining UP2U, she had a contract in Hanoi — $1,400/month, 22 hours per week. Her rent is $200. She saves $900 a month — more than her entire salary in Tbilisi.

"Georgia taught me how to teach. Vietnam taught me what my skills are actually worth."

— Nino, Georgia → Hanoi

The Caucasus has strong English speakers who've been overlooked by the global teaching market. Vietnam doesn't care about your region's politics or your passport's prestige. It cares about whether you can teach.

Why Vietnam Works for the Caucasus Teachers

1

No passport discrimination

Vietnamese schools hire based on ability, not nationality. Georgian, Armenian, and Azerbaijani passports all work. Your English skill is what matters.

2

The salary multiplier

Average teacher salary in Georgia: ~1,800 GEL/month (~$660). Armenia: similar range. In Vietnam: $1,200–$2,500/month for 20–25 hours per week. That's 2–3x your current salary.

3

Cheapest flights of any region

Tbilisi to Vietnam runs $400–$500 one-way via Air Arabia or Qatar Airways. That's cheaper than flights from Europe or the Americas — your upfront cost is the lowest.

4

Georgia's digital nomad culture prepares you

If you've been around Tbilisi's international scene, you already understand expat life. Vietnam's cafe culture, coworking spaces, and international community will feel familiar.

5

Southeast Asia on your doorstep

Vietnam is a base for Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, and more. Weekend trips cost less than a night out in Tbilisi.

Step 1 — Get Your Documents Ready

  • • Valid passport (Georgian, Armenian, or Azerbaijani — 6+ months remaining)
  • • Bachelor's degree — bakalavri/бакалавр in any field
  • • TEFL certificate (120 hours, can be done online for ~$39–$180)

UP2U Module 7 covers the legalization process. Georgia uses the Hague Apostille system. Armenia and Azerbaijan may require additional consular legalization.

Step 2 — Join UP2U and Build Your Application

The system gives you CV templates, intro video scripts, and email outreach scripts — all proven across 700+ placements. Tier 1 ($199) gives you the full system. Tier 2 ($349) adds personal CV review and application feedback so your materials are hire-ready before you send a single application.

Step 3 — Apply to Schools

Step 4 — Interview, Get Hired, Negotiate

Questions the Caucasus Teachers Ask

Can Georgians/Armenians/Azerbaijanis teach in Vietnam?

Yes. UP2U welcomes teachers from all three Caucasus countries. Schools evaluate English ability, not nationality.

Is my degree from the Caucasus recognized?

Yes. A completed bachelor's degree (bakalavri) from any recognized university qualifies for a Vietnam work permit.

Will my accent be a problem?

No. After 700+ placements, not one teacher failed because of their accent. Schools care about clarity, not accent origin.

Why Vietnam instead of Turkey or the Gulf?

Turkey pays similar to the Caucasus. Gulf states mostly require native speakers. Vietnam pays $1,200–$2,500/month and doesn't discriminate on nationality.

How safe is Vietnam?

Vietnam consistently ranks among the safest countries in Southeast Asia. Large, welcoming expat community in both Hanoi and HCMC.
